A package holiday firm is taking the seasonal egg hunt to new heights by hiding a 'golden' Easter Egg on its website – with the prize of a free £4,000 holiday voucher – and you've got just seven days to snag it.

Wave goodbye to the traditional chocolate egg hunts; this egg chase could bag you the ultimate summer holiday. On the Beach has planted a secret code on its website, beckoning 'egg-splorers' to unearth it for a chance at jetting off on a dream getaway. Once the worthy hunter locates and decrypts the secret code, they'll be directed to a special URL to claim their prize where they'll have to pop the code in. The first code-cracker to do so will score the £4,000 holiday voucher.

Zoe Harris, chief customer officer, at On the Beach said: "This isn't your average egg hunt, no muddy fields, no soggy chocolate and no regret after chomping your way through countless calories. Scrap your child's Easter egg hunt and focus on this because with £4,000 credit, you could be lounging at a five-star resort with cocktails in hand, or building sandcastles in the sunshine instead of battling British rain. Trust me, this is one egg you'll want to poach!"

With £4,000 on offer, lucky winners could snag an all-inclusive, five-star getaway for two at some of the most luxurious hotels across the globe.

Consider, for example, the five-star FIVE Palm Jumeirah Dubai. With direct flights departing from Gatwick on July 10, a week-long stay at this culinary and party hotspot, boasting a private beach, beach club and an array of gourmet restaurants, would normally set you back £1,922pp.

For something a little more romantic, winners could try the adults-only Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa. The resort offers the highest level of luxury against the backdrop of crystal blue waters and the magnificent sugar-sand of Juanillo Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic. An all-inclusive week stay here, with flights from Gatwick, usually costs £1,871pp.

If you're a fortunate parent who bags the £4,000 Easter prize, then a week's all-inclusive stay at the luxurious Xanadu Resort in Turkey, complete with its own private beach and Fancy Land packed with children's entertainment, would be entirely free.

On the Beach's event marks the first online holiday hunt in the UK, 45 years since the first 'Easter Egg' in gaming history and 500 years since Martin Luther organised egg hunts for his congregation, where men hid eggs for women and children to find, symbolising the empty tomb of Jesus.

If participants are unable to crack the code in the stipulated time, On The Beach will provide some additional clues on April 17 at 10am via their social channels.
